Equine water rescue
Here’s one of my favorite excerpts from the group chat last week. For context, it helps to know that two of our team members are also volunteer firefighters/emergency responders.
Colleen P.: “Horse Rescued from Pacific: An Arabian horse got spooked on the beach in Santa Barbara, CA and jumped into the Pacific Ocean. The horse swam out for about a mile. It took several official and unofficial rescue boats to bring him safely to shore.”
Matthew W.: You know, I’ve helped rescue horses from dry land and it’s been some of the most exhausting and terrifying work I’ve ever done. I’ve also rescued a person from moving water. I can’t IMAGINE trying to do the combination, that’s crazy crazy.
